The social partners in Italy’s logistics, freight and parcel-shipping sector have agreed together to renew their national collective agreement, covering almost 1 million workers.

The new agreement runs until the end of March 2024 and provides for an average monthly salary increase of €104. According to the trade unions Filt CGIL, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti, this is the first time in 15 years that all the 24 employers’ bodies in the industry – including the cooperative organisations which play a major role in subcontracting – have signed up to the same agreement at the same time.

The parties have also agreed to set up a bilateral commission to examine ways to modernise the agreement, which covers a sector employing almost one million male and female workers. "Each contract renewal is important for us and for the workers and companies that benefit from it,” said Salvatore Pellecchia, General Secretary of Fit Cisl, adding that the deal was a “concrete recognition the work that never stopped during the lockdown periods, avoiding the country further inconvenience and difficulties in the supply of essential goods.”
