Worker advocates call for more ‘democracy at work’ ahead of Porto Summit

Isabelle Schömann and Gaby Bischoff spoke with the Euractiv reporter about democracy at work as one of the fundamental rights of Europe, missing commitments from the European Commission and member states at the Porto Summit and European minimum standards on information, consultation and participation rights.

While the ETUC has praised the EPSR Action Plan for “outlining a forward-looking vision of a social Europe,” Schömann and the organisation still see shortcomings when it comes to binding goals. The parts discussing worker involvement are “not developed at all and there is no action whatsoever linked to it, and that’s a shame,” she said.
